Dressed: On the Go

If you’ve been following our Instagram, you may have noticed that we’ve been taking a lot of weekend trips; Adrienne most recently went to Calistoga while Mary Ann was out in LA. It’s such a nice way to unwind from the work week, and take the opportunity to explore new places without venturing too far from home.

We wanted to show how we pack for these weekend trips. We like to travel light, but we also don’t want to sacrifice style. Over the years, we’ve learned how to consolidate into the essential pieces we know would work well based on our destination.

First, it’s important to look at your own closet and find the key items you reach for over and over again. Our wardrobes are filled with neutrals and basics, but we always include pops of color or accessories to keep the outfit interesting. By keeping the clothing in the more neutral territory, the possibilities to mix and match are endless.

We always make sure to pack a pair of black jeans and a white shirt or two as. We don’t pack a lot of jewelry, but we think it’s nice to have one or two statement pieces like a necklace, earrings, and a watch. While Mary Ann doesn’t wear a lot of jewelry, she always makes sure she has a hat. Adrienne’s go-to accessory is sunglasses.

We also want to have clothing that can easily transition from day to night or can be pieced together with different items for a whole new look. The Everlane Slip Dress can be worn over a white t-shirt with boots during the day, and dressed up with a leather jacket and heels for a night out. You can also wear a sweater over the dress and sneakers for a day roaming through the city.
