Before I start my post, can y’all take the time to look at Ionut Radulescu’s art?! The image below is only a taste of this badass graphic designer.
As an activist and (especially) as a woman of color, I’ve been feeling the stress of the current state of the world every.single.day. Now more than ever, I feel the need for women to collectively come together and support each other in these trying times. I realized before I could make any difference in this world, it had to start with me first.
There’s a poem by Rupi Kaur that was printed in Darling magazine that resonated with me. More so after I saw a friend of mine repost it:
“i want to apologize to all the women
i have called pretty.
before i’ve called them intelligent or brave.
i am sorry i made it sound as though
something as simple as what you’re born with
is the most you have to be proud of
when your spirit has crushed mountains
from now on i will say things like, you are resilient
or, you are extraordinary.
not because i don’t think you’re pretty.
but because you are so much more than that”
“In the spirit of intl women’s day” by rupi kaur, milk and honey. (@rupikaur_)
Let’s love ourselves and love each other truly. Let’s FINALLY start accepting the voices of women as truth. Let’s fiercely protect each other as we’ve promised to time and time again. Let’s continue to inspire and be inspired by all that we bring to the table. Let’s support women run spaces and businesses. Let’s keep this energy of protection and love going so that our future generations of women AND men will understand the mistakes of this world and work towards a better one.
