Style Muse: Solange

One of my visions for this website is to give it a space to showcase, who I believe, are modern fashion icons. With that, I wanted to dig a little deeper and deconstruct their covetable styles. I want my readers to not only have a point of reference of style from these icons, but to also make it their own.

Nelson Style

There’s no other person that I can think of who can jumpstart us than Solange Knowles. She is cool, confident, and willing to take risks and be playful in her clothing choices. Solange can pair basic items that we all have with fun pieces that bring the outfit together. She can rock the monochrome, the color block, and get print heavy flawlessly. I love how she is bold and quirky yet clean and sophisticated.

Below, I created a style board to better break down her style. I know she a wide range of colors and patterns, but I wanted to pull colors and patterns I noticed more frequently. As you may have noticed, Solange tends to mix basics with bolds. She pairs a nude colored outfit with a bold accessory piece as seen below. Solange also mixes patterns, but tends to stay within the same pattern family. Stripes on stripes? Sure why not. I believe fashion should be fun. You have the ability to express yourself through your fashion choices. Solange is the very definition of that belief.
